TIME IS TICKING
WRITTEN BY ADEDAYO ADEMOKOYA

2021 was the year of settling with the new norma. Happy New Year! We are still basking in the euphoria of the new year with everyone holding tight to his new year resolutions with enthusiasm.
The new year comes with a lot of hope and dreams but you should know that the year will never be forever new. It is progressing in days that add up to months and before you know it, the year is gone again.
Jo Nketiah said in one of her scribbles that the new year comes with renewed energy and life soon pushes you to normalcy making you forget your resolutions but if you are deliberate and consistent enough to follow up with some of these resolutions, things may not change but certainly, you will change.
As you progress towards the finish line of the year, will you be able to look back and be proud of your actions? Let’s say you can’t be proud of all your actions but would you look back and be proud of yourself? Truth is, whether you like it or not, the year is going to end with or without you.
An erudite once said that time is infinite, we are the ones wasting away. To a larger extent, it is genuine, so how do you ensure that you do not waste away this year. It is a question of being able to do things deliberately and consistently.
Gbenga Adebiyi said that you achieving big things is not just by making new year resolutions, but by breaking the resolutions into small practical steps. It is not that the resolutions are not good (they are like money-neutral). Money can be good or bad depending on the personality that has it. Resolutions are indications that you want to improve but the “how” is the driving force behind them. If you don’t break the resolutions into small actionable goals, they seem big and unattainable.
Routine is the mother of consistency. Those die-hard habits didn’t just become a part of you, it was your deliberate action of repeating them daily that makes them almost like a reflex to you. To make more out of this year, create a positive working routine for yourself.
Moreover, the question of how makes the mind think of expanding its capacity and creating solutions to the challenges of life. This year, exercise your mind with the how question. It helps to activate the creativity of the mind and you will be surprised at how your mind has the answers to the things you felt can’t be solved.
Let me leave you with this, with each passing day, time becomes slender and the body becomes weaker. Every day, try as much as you can to do the little things that would add value to your life. Your sun doesn’t need the river to mirror it before it shines.
Don’t limit yourself. Time is ticking, do you and never hold back.
Enjoy every moment but remember; what you have to do, do quickly because time is ticking.
