STARTING THE NEW YEAR

WRITTEN BY ADEDAYO ADEMOKOYA

The day is new so is the year. As the days go by, the reality of the year sets in. Never be carried away by the ecstasy that comes with the new year.

First, there is nothing new about the year it is just the rising of another day. You can only make it new when you resolve to do new things. Get out of your comfort zone. Set new limits. Sincerely make new mistakes. Keep trying and trying again. Never give up. Stretch yourself to create new boundaries. Light up, let your illumination shed away your inner fears.

This year is here and you must know you can’t win everything. You can’t help everyone. So don’t exhaust your energy. Be you. Calm down. Let the power of the universe reward you for your good doings. Let things come to you. You’re beautiful. You’re attractive. Never serve yourself on the plate of other people’s feast. You deserve better. You deserve the love you crave for. You deserve that money to travel around the world. You’re a magnet and magnets don’t go after metals, they are naturally attracted to them. Be good and good things will naturally seek you, pants down.

Be a moon. Illuminate other people’s darkness. Be a star, a freckle of hope on the darkest night(s). Continue to improve yourself. How sweet will it be if you find ways of making yourself better each day for the next 361 days, you’ll be the definition of the little drops of water that make a mighty ocean. Never settle for less.

Don’t be afraid of falling because in falling, you learn to rise and keep firm. Never be caught stagnant. Keep moving. It’s not going to be easy but just keep moving.

Make your life a standard other people want to follow. Be intentional about self-improvement. At this time of the year, resolutions are the norm. Don’t make resolutions you won’t be able to achieve. Okay, make your resolutions into actionable and achievable goals that will allow you to take baby steps one after the other. Be accountable to yourself. Be responsible for yourself.

Stop playing the blame game, it hasn’t taken you anywhere so why continue? Be hard on yourself in terms of becoming a better you. Be disciplined. There are times situations will want to make you chicken out, take a break, take a deep breath, cry if you want to but come back and continue. You will be surprised at how your inner strength will surmount mountains and overcome them. Celebrate your small wins. For they are the foundation to bigger ones.

I love you and you know it. Let’s do greater things, break new boundaries, explore new places, make new connections, and lots more this year. There’s a lot our minds can accommodate if we are willing. Cheers to the better days. Happy New Year!
