I AM A BOY
WRITTEN BY OLUDARE PRECIOUS MATTHEW
I am a boy
I speak and write like a boy
Boys are not stone
We are human that feels but keep our pains.
I am not immune to harassment of any such
Nor abuse.
I can not tell and say the sorrow that goes on in my heart
Or the pains that troubles me in my dreams
I am a boy and am proud of it.
In a country I dwell,
For a boy to become a man
It is a task terrible and dangerous.
I live in a place where culture stands
And faith lives.
We believe that for a boy to become a man
He has to secure a job, shelter and so on.
A man must be happy always.
And must be diligent.
Some men are slaves in mind
A man can die mentally
Because of what he faces in life.
We face a lot of things in life
That can not be discussed about
A physical slave is better than mind slave.
I wonder why boys are seen as human that is as strong as a stone
We are made of flesh, blood and bone
We strive to lead
We struggle to rule
We are humans that are can be hurt
But our sorrows stay in our minds
And our heart, broken.
I am a boy
I am not a stone.
