FATHER’S DAY

WRITTEN BY OLADELE TOBI

Father’s Day
To the ones that have gone before us
Who have fought to give us a better life
To the ones who have spoken up for our freedom
To the ones who gave to others what they never received
To the ones who lay their lives to give us breath
To the great warriors, activists, business tycons,  indisputable politicians, spirited teachers
To the ones that don’t have wings but flew over obstacles of life
We are eternally grateful for you the great works you left behind

To the fathers that still rise early and lay back late
The ones that will do everything possible to put a smile on our face
The ones that loves us more than they love themselves
We promise to always make you proud
We promise to never let the standard drop
We promise to love our sisters, mothers, wives and above all we promise to love ourselves

To the upcoming fathers like me, let’s buckle our shoes, it’s not going to be easy, but we need to keep pushing. The goal is to be better;
our father told us never to settle for less, but we decide never to settle because less is anything we have today compared to what we can achieve tomorrow
Above all, let us all live in love and fight against the vices we face
Together we will all achieve greatness than our fathers

To every woman is this world, we choose to share this special day  with you

Thank you
Thank you for housing us in your body for the very first nine month
And food feeding us out of yourself for the next 3 years
In you we were formed and out of you we had our first meal
You will forever be an integral part of us
Our hero

To every man reading this, please do well to treat all women right
Love them
Adore them
Cherish them
Pamper them
Because they are the foundation of our lives

To every woman that has been abused out there by a man
Keep being strong
We stand by you today and forever
We will keep praying until we have a society that is free of all this vices
Happy woMEN day
