POETRY: DEATH CAME
WRITTEN BY OLOYEDE SEYI
And Death came,
As silent as the grave.
And death spoke.
But his words remained unheard.
For they were soft as the wind.
And every step Death took closer,
I felt a chill.
I felt my heart go still
I felt I almost couldn’t breathe,
Because it felt like time froze
Then my life flashed before my eyes.
At that moment, I could tell,
Death didn’t care,
Who he placed his extremely cold hands on
To bless them with an eternal sleep.
I could tell.
I felt there for the first time,
True despair and
The all-encompassing fear
Of losing my soul forever.
