Growth
In a world of preposterous complexities
I reminisce the days of infancy
When pain was a stranger
And my heart purer than sealed sachet water
Clothed in the innocence of a new born baby
Unpolluted by the evils of men
Thinking about nothing yet everything pure.
In a world of preposterous complexities
I reminisce the days of infancy
Waking up each day with a spirit stronger than tempered glass
And a blooming smile, the kind that makes you think of sunflowers
Building castles I hoped to live in
Engulfed with innocent fantasies I thought to be realities
Like the avian creatures spoken of in the scriptures
I had no worry for the future.
In a world of preposterous complexities
I reminisce the days of infancy
My life was my mother’s rose garden
Cradling me with kisses of warmth and security
That leaves me bereft of worries but brims pure bliss and serenity
Everyone telling me tales that tickled me into ecstasy
But now, not even one comic tickles my fancy
Is this the growth my father told me?
Now, I have fallen off my mother’s back
Drowning in these inevitable waves of life
On a battle ground I dare not surrender
I asked why she let me fall
She said “I have become too heavy for her loins to bear”
I retorted “The weight life saddles me with is backbreaking yet I bear”
She said, “It is the inevitable, Now, You are grown!
