WRITING CONTEST
After successfully organizing Bowen Woven Words Competition from Jan-May 2018. We decided to take a step further so towards the end of 2018, we got an approval and the support of The Osun State Ministry of Education to Organise OSCA WOVEN WORDS COMPETITION
OSCA WOVEN WORDS COMPETITION an online writing competition for Undergraduates of tertiary institutions in Osun state via www.mywovenwords.com/osca. A project estimated to worth a minimum of N260,000.
The first quarter of the year was a struggle for the team members and I. We had to visit the eligible tertiary institutions for publicity and support.
For sponsorship and donations, we reached out to Kings, public figures and reputable “crème de la crème” of the society; of which 80% of them eventually disappointed us.
We had to solicit for the support of media houses and at the same time, about 70% of the team and I had to focus on the extremely demanding activities of our final year in Bowen University, Iwo.
In April 2019, It was with great joy and great sense of fulfillment that we announced the best three contestants of OSCA Competition(OSCA means Osun Campus). HAVE YOU READ: FACE OF THE WEEK – IDOWU JEREMIAH

SHOUTOUT
I’ll be an ingrate if I fail to commend Faith Waziri, the former president of Bowen Baptist Student Fellowship (BBSF) and all the 2018/2019 BBSF Executives for swooping in and saving the day by providing financial support and standing by us through thick and thin.
Also, I can’t but appreciate Mr Oladimeji Oloyede of Bowen University ICT for his financial support.
I must commend Mr Olumide Ajayi, my big brother, Lecturer and friend for his dedication to the project. He was with us all through, supporting in every possible manner. On different occasions, Mr Olumide Ajayi and I went to see the sponsors together and he did all the talking.
I must also mention our chief adviser, Dr M.O Oyelami, the former H.O.D of the Department of Computer Science, Bowen University for his guidance and support.
We hope that in the future we can take it a step further by organizing an online writing competition for Nigerians, West Africans, Africans and even go global. With you by our side, we can achieve this and many more.HAVE YOU READ: 5 BEST ALTERNATIVES TO GOOGLE ADSENSE IN NIGERIA
WOVEN CULTURE
After we successfully organized a first-of-its-kind writing competition in Osun State, we decided to focus more on delivering cultural contents on our Lifestyle website and social media pages (www.mywovenwords.com | @mywovenwords).
Taking this step really gave us wings to soar up-skies like an eagle.
We went on tours visiting cultural/historical sites in different towns like Oyo, Iseyin, Awe, Lanlate, Eruwa, Abeokuta, Ago-Iwoye, Iwo, Osogbo, Okin-Apa, Ado-Awaye and Ogbomoso.
We drafted proposals and letters to appropriate entities, we visited royal fathers and reputable elders with adequate reservoir of knowledge on the subject of culture. We created and promoted numerous rare cultural contents on the “Woven Culture” category of the blog, My Woven Words.
www.mywovenwords.com is now well ranked and receives lots of online visitors daily, all our social media pages are really booming and doing great.
The fact that our 3year old Facebook page has 1202% increase in page followers (from “466 follows” to “6067 followers” and now 6151 page likes) in the past 5 months, without a single Facebook Page Promotion is an indication that we are on the right path.
CONCLUSION
It gladdens my heart that myself and about 70% of the team, Woven Family graduated successfully from Bowen University, Iwo towards the end of this year and we are “obeying the clarion call” in various 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.HAVE YOU READ: BRAND OF THE WEEK – INDOLO
