OSCA Woven Words Competition remains the “first-of-its-kind” and “one-of-its-kind” in Osun state, Nigeria. To avoid Conflicts of Interest, we reached out to a number of unbiased scholars in a university outside Osun State to assess the submitted manuscripts and select the best contestants. All the contestant got a certificate of participation and some of the submitted manuscripts were selected for online publication.

TOPIC: The Tenacity of Nigerian Youths in National Development and Leadership Roles.

Tenacity is the ability to stay persistent, determined and courageous towards not quitting, so as to achieve a set goal. The tenacity of the Nigerian Youths in National Development and Leadership roles stands to be one of the most valued resources that Nigeria is blessed with. The youths of Nigeria have been perceived to have both moral and mental strength to resist opposition, danger and hardship in the Nation, as well as make positive impacts and infer great influence on the Nigerian societies. They have also not failed to convince our leaders, fellowNigerians and even the world at large about the revolutionary spirit they possess, and they have done this explicitly, by taking up leadership positions and performing extremely well.

Undoubtedly, the Nigerian youths have shown great tenacity in the service they effectively render tothe Nation through the National Youth Service Corpse (NYSC). The youths come together during their service to engage in a constructive process in building social cohesion, economic prosperity, and political stability, democratically, in the Nation. During their service, the youths go as far as enlightening the people in the society, rendering effective community services, exhibiting patriotic attitudes towards their Nation, thereby contributing immensely to the development of families, societies, communities and the Nation at large. Some youths even do this with so much passion that they go to schools to enlighten the students on the various societal matters and how they can play their roles in solving these problems. Indeed, one can see a high level of strength and determination of the youth towards building a better Nigeria.

Furthermore, the Nigerian youths have proven themselves to be the Nation’s most valued resources through their great discoveries, distinct academic excellence, great leadership qualities coupled with the exhibition of Godly attitudes in all areas(all thanks to the Christian Universities in Nigeria like Bowen and Covenant University). These achievements will not have been possible if not for the youths’ decision to take reading seriously, as well as being open to information and learning, and of course, the great impact of a good upbringing and training. As a result, they have become useful to the Nation as well. I stand not to be corrected that they are filled with a resilient spirit as they understand the concept of goal setting and effective planning. Reason being why they play vital roles in thedecision making of the Nation. As a result, in the area of leadership, the youths are known to possessgreat passion, dreams, full potential, and visions forthe realization of a developed Nation. They make efforts to constantly get informed, which helps them to make success – driven decisions, resulting in the elimination of National stagnation.

Conclusively, the Nigerian youths with no iota of doubt, have indeed proven to have tenacity and good leadership abilities through their prolific writings, distinct public speeches and of course, their revolutionary actions in the Nation.
