WORDS
I crushed that heart
Made it bleed
Blinded by my own rage
I couldn’t see farther than my nose
I guess it isn’t true
That the more you look
The less you see
Instead truth lies more in the saying
That there’s more than meets the eye
I pulled the trigger
Refusing to wait even a minute
Willing myself not to listen
Telling reason to be damned
Not to give room for excuses
But to end it
To let loose
To give my anger the reins
And now, everything’s been crushed
Every last piece
Turned nothing but dust.
Hearts broken beyond repair
Will mend slowly and painfully
Might not even heal at all
I failed to remember that
And the words were out before I knew it
Made of fragments called syllables
I can’t take them back
They have taken roots
And will probably lead to someone’s ruin
If only I understood
That there’s a fine line
Between being straightforward and being deadly
I’d have thought my words over
I only just realised
What they say about anger
Being one word short of danger
