Who are we, how were we born?
Where we born Christians or Muslims?
Or we were meant to believe so
Seeing religious rituals performed.
I am no God but mere mortal
Whose mind is a tabula rasa
Trying to unshacle myself from
The chains and bars of religion.
I believe in God who do you
Believe in? Pastors or Imam?
The church, shrine or the mosque?
Be not a religionist but believe
No religion is better and non is worse!
See them dressed in robes and suits
Enveloped in the irony of believes
They that have raped God off the
Church and places business as idol
They that hug faith and repentance
At the black backyard of prosperity
And dines with the sweat of unknown
Who seriously seeks Salvation and help
Doctrines here and there to please
The pockets of these baleful men
Who claim their religion is better
Than islamism, budihism and God
But no religion is better and non is worse!
They that have stollen the praises
And worship of God to mere mortals
We no longer worship God himself
But the Gods of these men I know not.
It was they who killed him first
Not me Isoboye Danagogo said.
Religion is a dust in man’s eyes
As it turns our trad and culture
Into a big bunch of rotten debris
It was religion who robbed God of
Trust and fed it to mere mortals
Be not a religionist but believe
No religion is better and non is worse!
What possible evil have they done
That these haven’t in time past
They are now financial institutions
Imam, pastors at managerial end
Taxing the common and plebeians
For these institutions to survive
Solitudinum facuim pacem appalant!
Am a sinner and am not proud to be
But am glad he came just for me
Rather than you that claims Holy
But inside you are stained like white
Clothes used in a blood bath
No religion is better and non is worse!
Religion has usurped the seat
Of morals in our hearts and
Enslaved the truth of disdain.
It has seduced the values of the
Pulpit to the mud with it’s neckedness
In deep romance with miracles
Giving birth to lies and unbelieves.
What possible end will I gain
Clinging to religion and its gifts?
Am not a religionist but I believe
No religion is better and non is worse!
