WAR THORN – BY AYODELE MOYINOLUWA F.

Wheels that sprang into action
With blood thirsty evils, encompassing us
Repugnant reeks of gunpowder – acrid and sour
Sanguine fluids splattered in clots
Gory horrid sights to behold
Coming forth in their inglorious shades
Drums of war, beating in rhythm to bloodshed

Sheared necks, unsheathed swords
Scabbards lying empty,
Deprived of their contents
Non amusing terror, intimidating the feeble minded
Eyes candies gradually turning to eye sores
A land where everything once boomed
Now decorated with gloom
